Sometimes in life we can all face difficult and challenging times.

Therapy can help by offering a safe, supportive, non-judgemental space, where you can explore your feelings, concerns and difficulties whatever they may be.

You may experience depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, relationship difficulties, grief, low self-esteem, isolation or anger for example. With over 20 years experience working with people who experience mental health difficulties, I am here to help.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I gained a BSc degree in Psychology and went on to train as a mental health nurse. I spent several years working as a nurse in mental health community services for the NHS in Sussex and Hampshire.

Specialities

I specialise in working with people who experience mental health difficulties such as depression, anxiety and other mood disorders. I also specialise in working with people who have been affected by suicide, either if you have experienced thoughts about not wanting to be here, or if someone you know has expressed thoughts of suicide or have taken their own life. Losing a friend or loved one to suicide is particularly complex grief, I can help you to explore this in a safe non-judgemental way.

About my approach

Humanistic psychotherapy is a unique and empowering approach to mental health that can help you explore yourself, all parts of yourself, even those parts that you may choose to hide.  You are a unique and complex being and in therapy we create a collaborative environment where you can explore your inner world and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.

Principles I work by:

  • Human potential – I believe in your ability to grow and thrive. Therapy aims to increase your awareness of who you are in the world and promote your own personal growth.

  • Person-centred focus – I prioritise your perspective, your experiences and your subjective reality.

  • Empathy – A deep, non-judgemental understanding of your feelings and experiences form the foundation of therapy.

  • Authenticity – I will engage with you in a genuine, transparent manner, fostering trust and openness.

  • Unconditional positive regard – I accept you for who you are, without judgement or criticism, I will not try to change you.

I aim, in collaboration with you, to create an environment that feels supportive and non-judgemental; which enables you to take charge of your life and make meaningful changes.  Humanistic psychotherapy is more than just a way of treating mental health concerns, it can be seen as a journey of discovery and empowerment.  Whether you’re navigating life’s challenges or striving to better understand yourself, humanistic psychotherapy offers a compassionate and enriching path forward in a safe, confidential space where you can feel truly heard.
